Fixtures over 20 years old are probably uncoated, though they can still be scratched by abrasive scrubbers, so rely only on soft cloths and sponges. Start with soapy water, rinse well, dry, and buff. If needed, step up to the Nonabrasive Vinegar Cleaner (see item 149). Baking soda is a mild abrasive, and a baking soda paste is the next possibility for tough spots. Let it sit for 5 minutes, rinse with copious amounts of water to get rid of every trace of baking soda, dry, and buff.
